My Own Images

I think some of these interpretations work better than others. To complete the first image, I used black fine liner pens to draw on top of the photograph, like some of the work by Misprinted Type. I don't think this image has worked as well as the others because I don't feel it is as interesting. I don't really like the drawings on the image, and don't think the drawings work as well as the images by Misprinted Type. For the second image, I applied an emulsion wash over the top of the picture. I then took the phrase "a longing to go back" from the spider diagram I drew at the beginning of the project and wrote this on the image in the style of the typography by Misprinted Type. I think this image works well because I like the typography used, and think the writing looks good on top of the slightly faded image. The third image is my favourite of the four. To complete it, I stuck some newspaper down to add a collage effect and I then dabbed emulsion paint over the image, followed by brown ink. I really like this image because, I like the picture itself to begin with, and I think the newspaper, emulsion and ink help to give the image an old and nostalgic feel. For the final image, I painted over the top with emulsion paint. Using black felt tip pen, I added doodles to the image in the style of Misprinted Type, and I then added the word "memories" to the bottom of the picture using typography similar to Misprinted Type, because I think this word is appropriate to the theme of nostalgia. Overall, I really like this style of working, and intend to persue to further over the course of my project.
